Inspired by primitive and folk art, Ganesh Basu's works draw on ancient culture to convey the universality of human emotion. For this self taught artist, art is primal exploration of the two-dimensional surface where the act of producing art is brought down to the relationship between colours and form, allowing the viewer to respond physically to the canvas in a sensuous participation.
