Tanjore paintings are characterised by rich, flat and vivid colors, simple iconic composition, glittering gold foils overlaid on delicate but extensive work and inlay of glass beads and pieces or precious and semi-precious gems. ‘Rama Pattabhishekam’, an old glass Tanjore intricately executed composition is inspired from Lord Rama’s family comprising Devi Sita, Prince Bharata along with other courtiers.
